Biography: She lived with her parents on their country estate at Medak, Lika, Croatia. She was handicapped, pathologically shunned publicity and remained completely unknown until, pressed by the painter Zlatko Šulentić, a family friend, she agreed to participate in the exhibition "Half a Century of Croatian Art", which brought her recognition. One oil painting, "Lička krajina" (Lika march) became a permanent exhibit of the Modern Galerija (Gallery of Modern Art) in Zagreb. After that she exhibited together with Anka Krizmanić in Gospić (Farming College, February 1940) and in Split (Galić Art Gallery, March 1940). The majority of her work disappeared in a fire during the Second World War when the Omčikus family house at Medak was burnt.
She escaped to Italy where she lived until her death. |
