Biography: The ancestors of the painter are of Norman origin. One branch of the family came to Dalmatia via Italy, and in mid-18th c. they were given the fiefdom of Vrana and the title of "conte". Zoe is the daughter of the count Hugo Borelli of Vrana and Evelina de Alačević. Her work as an artist during her life time was followed by the entire Croatian cultural public, particularly for her caricatures and studies of Dalmatian folk costumes and customs, (Dalmatinische Volkskunst, Split 1931), as well as paintings on textiles. Her autobiography is still in manuscript.
